At
the 2004 annual conference, the Northwest Council for
Computer Education honors a select few of its members
for leadership and service to the organization and to
the field of education in general.
The President’s
Award for Outstanding Achievement is given to an individual
who has distinguished himself or herself as a technology
leader and has dedicated many years to supporting NCCE
activities. This year’s award winner is Dr. Clancy
Wolf.
Friends and
colleagues describe him as creative and thoughtful,
passionate and dedicated, a true family man and a champion
for a good cause. His sense of humor and positive outlook
make him a pleasure to work with and his level-headed
confidence is a much-appreciated asset.
A “reformed
northwesterner,” Clancy returned home to the
Seattle area after years of teaching and studying in
Florida and Michigan. He has worked with students,
teachers, and researchers from Forks, Washington, to
Key West, Florida, exploring how technology helps students
learn and challenging students to think about their
role in the world around them. He volunteers for NCCE
in his spare time while managing his daytime job as
the technology coordinator for the new environmental
studies school, Island Wood, at Bainbridge Island in
Washington.
Clancy has
been a member of the Northwest instructional technology
community for a number of years. He was a member of
the NCCE Board of Directors for eight years, and served
as President of the organization. While on the board,
he championed many new and exciting programs, including
the Student Showcase and DigiTalkies Film Festival
projects. He continues to support NCCE activities as
the organization’s Webmaster.
Clancy is
a gifted educator who has truly made his mark on technology
education. His dedication to kids and learning is remarkable;
he is a model educator. NCCE is proud to present Clancy
with the 2004 President’s Award for Outstanding
Achievement.
